When Apple launched iOS 15; It added many new features to improve video calls in the FaceTime application, and one of those features is called Voice Isolation, which makes it easier for people to hear your voice clearly in a video call by isolating the annoying sounds around you.
And in the new iOS 16.4 version that Apple launched yesterday , the Voice Isolation feature became available for phone calls in the iPhone as well. The noise surrounding it, which helps to communicate the speaker's voice more clearly.
How to activate the sound isolation feature on the iPhone:
When you make a phone call on your iPhone, your phone's microphone picks up a range of sounds in your environment, but with the advantage of sound isolation, machine learning distinguishes these sounds, blocking any noise so that the other person can hear your voice clearly.
Here's how to enable the sound isolation feature when making a regular phone call on an iPhone running the new iOS 16.4:
- Open the Phone app and start making an audio phone call to someone.
- After starting the call, swipe the screen down from the upper right corner to access the Control Center .
- Click the Mic Mode button near the top right corner of your screen.
- Click on the Voice Isolation option.
- You will then activate the sound isolation feature, and you can turn it off at any time by opening the Control Center again and activating the Standard option instead.
When Apple added Voice Isolation to the FaceTime app, it added with it another feature called Wide Spectrum, a feature that enhances group voices without affecting the clarity of your voice.
This feature is great for group FaceTime calls or if you have a large group of people who want to talk to someone else. In the iOS 16.4 update, you will find the Wide Spectrum option available under the Voice Isolation option, but this feature is not currently available for regular phone calls on the iPhone.
