How To Fix The Problem Of Not Showing WhatsApp Notifications On Your Phone

Notifications are an essential part of our electronic devices, as they draw our attention to important messages and alerts, so the lack of notifications from some applications such as: WhatsApp can lead to missing some important and urgent messages sometimes.

The problem of not receiving WhatsApp notifications is one of the common problems that you may encounter in the application while all its other features are working properly, either you do not hear the notification sound, or your phone does not show you the notification preview.

So today we will review what you can do when you do not receive WhatsApp notifications on your phone:

1- Restart your phone:

When you face a problem with your phone or any of the applications; The first step that must be taken is to turn off the phone for a period of no less than 30 seconds, then turn it on again, as this step, despite its simplicity, may fix small problems, and you can do the same with the WhatsApp application to solve the problem of not receiving notifications.

2- Free up storage space on your phone:

If you do not have free storage space on your phone, you will not receive notifications from most applications, the most important of which is the WhatsApp application, especially since you receive through it multimedia files such as: images and audio clips, and these files need space on your phone to open them.

If your phone runs out of storage space, an alert will appear. But if you want to check the available storage space manually, you can follow these steps:

  • Go to (Settings) Settings on your phone.
  • Click on the (Storage space) option. You will see a list of everything that takes up space on your phone, and you will find that videos and photos take up the most space, so delete some of them.

Be sure to delete large and old videos to free up storage space, you can also uninstall applications that you have not used for a long time, and when there is enough storage space in your phone, application notifications will appear in your phone.

3- Check your WhatsApp notification settings:

The operating system in your phone allows you to disable notifications for any application that you find annoying, and it is possible that you have disabled WhatsApp notifications by mistake, if you are receiving notifications from all other applications except WhatsApp, and to verify that you can follow the following steps:

Note: The following steps will vary depending on your phone model.

  • Go to (Settings) Settings on your phone.
  • Click on the (App Management) option.
  • Click on the App List option, then choose the WhatsApp application from the list.
  • Click on the (Manage notifications) option, and here you can control the type of WhatsApp notifications that you want to receive on your phone.

4- Make sure that the option to restrict background data is not enabled:

All phones have a set of settings that allow you to track the consumption of internet data for the cellular network, and among these settings is a setting called (Background Data Restriction) that we usually use to reduce data consumption, and while it is running in the WhatsApp application, it will prevent the application from using data while it is working in the background, So you may not see WhatsApp notifications.

To disable the background data option in the WhatsApp application, you can follow these steps:

  • Press and hold the WhatsApp app icon.
  • Click on the (App info) option.
  • Click on the Data Usage option, and make sure that the Background Data option is not activated.

5- Log out of WhatsApp Web:

If you are using WhatsApp Web on your computer, or the desktop application, this may lead to all notifications appearing directly on the computer instead of the mobile application, and to exclude this problem, log out of WhatsApp Web through the following steps:

  • Go to the WhatsApp application on your phone.
  • Click on the three dots icon in the upper right corner, then click on the Linked devices option.
  • Click on the linked devices one by one, then click on the Log Out option.

6- Turn off power saving mode:

We usually use the power saving mode in our phones to extend battery life, as it automatically restricts the work of applications in the background, but it affects the work of applications, including the WhatsApp application, so if you have a problem with WhatsApp notifications, turn off the power saving mode.
